The Dates for Tomatfestivalen 2026 Are Set

A Festival with Long Traditions

Yomatfestivalen on Finnøy is one of the summer’s major highlights in the island communities of Stavanger - a festival that brings people together around local food, great flavors, and strong traditions. With the tomato at its core, the festival has, for more than 20 years, grown into a true community celebration with strong participation from both locals and visitors.

The festival is known for its high level of engagement, broad volunteer involvement, and close collaboration with local partners. Together, these efforts create experiences for all ages, with food, culture, and activities that bring life to the entire island community.

A Thoughtful Adjustment to the Festival Weekend

In 2026, the Tomato Festival will be held at the end of week 34. The adjustment is due to the start of the school year and is intended to ensure the best possible participation from families, volunteers, exhibitors, and partners.

The festival will begin on Thursday with school discos for grades 1–4 and 5–7, followed by the official kickoff at the school on Friday. By scheduling the festival for this particular weekend, consideration is given to the start of the school year and the everyday schedules of the many volunteers who are essential to the festival’s successful delivery.

Continuity and Further Development

Planning for the 2026 Tomatfestival is well underway. In our role as coordinator, the work of bringing together the many contributors - from volunteers and local producers to partners and organizers - continues.

Experience from previous years is being carried forward, while efforts are also being made to further develop the festival within the framework of what already works well. The ambition is to strengthen the festival’s identity and ensure great festival experiences, with tomatoes and local food as a clear common thread.

Save the Date

Tomatfestivalen 2026 will be held August 20–23, with the main festival day on Saturday, August 22. More information about the program and activities will be published continuously at www.tomatfestivalen.no.

We look forward to welcoming you to new experiences, great flavors, and true "tomato joy".
