In just a few years, OmCider has built a modern cidery in Hjelmeland. With strong values and bold ambitions, they’ve grown both the business and the brand - creating a distinctive local beverage with true character.
The Story
OmCider was founded in 2019, after heavy hailstorms accelerated new plans for the farm. Just a year later, the cidery was up and running — backed by 17,000 apple trees and 2,700 cherry trees. Production began the same year, and their ciders have since gained recognition in prestigious competitions like CiderWorld Frankfurt, World Championship in Bergen, and the International Brewing & Cider Awards.
Direction and Development
The need for more structure led to a collaboration with TEAL, which has supported OmCider in areas such as business modeling, target group analysis, branding, and funding applications. Together, we've developed a clear vision and a growth strategy for the future. The work has also included product portfolio development, design, and cider tastings - all with a focus on holistic operations and a strong balance between production, market, and identity.

After a season marked by both record deliveries and hail-damaged apples, Ryfylkefrukt made the decision to invest in their own value-added production.
The Story
Ryfylkefrukt SA is a cooperative owned by 38 fruit growers, spanning from Jelsa in the north to Hofsherad in the south. Since its founding in 2017, volumes have grown significantly - reaching 590 tonnes of fruit delivered for sorting in 2024 alone. However, heavy hailstorms led to large quantities of apples being unsuitable for fresh sale. To preserve the value of the surplus fruit, the cooperative began a process to upcycle the raw materials into new products.
Direction and Development
Through a targeted development process, Ryfylkefrukt went from idea to finished product in a short time. The journey began with a market analysis funded by Innovation Norway, followed by product development, equipment procurement, and gaining insights into packaging, storage, and shelf life. With support from TEAL, the cooperative received help with grant applications, market insight, and connections to relevant partners. The result: Ryfylkejuice - a premium apple juice now sold in all Meny stores across Rogaland, selected Coop Mega locations, and major farm shops in Stavanger. The production equipment is now also being used to test other raw materials, in an effort aimed at creating new jobs and establishing year-round operations - an initiative also led by TEAL.

Two passionate food enthusiasts have joined forces to establish Kvitsøy Ysteri. With local milk, strong motivation, and solid support behind them, they are now taking their first steps toward launching a new local food offering in the region.
The Story
The initiative to start a cheese dairy on Kvitsøy was launched by TEAL and the municipality in 2023. The goal was to identify local entrepreneurs interested in dairy processing. Following a local call for interest, Georg Rehberger and Silje Bjerklund stepped forward. Since fall 2023, they have participated in courses and study trips - including visits to the World Cheese Awards in Trondheim and Ryfylke Gardsysteri - gaining valuable knowledge and inspiration. In fall 2024, Kvitsøy Ysteri was officially established, and test production is already well underway.
Direction and Development
With support from TEAL, a gradual development plan has been put in place - tailored to the founders’ current situation, as they both still hold other jobs. The work now includes developing a business plan, preparing funding applications, and conducting market research. Dialogue has also begun with the municipality and local business community regarding future production facilities. The establishment of Kvitsøy Ysteri will strengthen the municipality’s local food identity and contribute to positioning Kvitsøy as an even more attractive destination for both food and tourism.

At Sæbø in Hjelmeland, Apal Sideri has quickly established itself as an award-winning brand with its sights set on international markets.
The Story
As the next generation on the family farm, Dan Olav Sæbø wanted to bring more value to the apples grown there. He crafted his first cider and - just for fun - submitted it to the World Cider Awards, where he won gold on his very first attempt. That unexpected victory sparked both inspiration and confidence to pursue the idea further. Since then, he has built Apal Stova, a dedicated tasting room; established a modern cidery; and opened an on-site shop. Every detail - from visual identity and interior design to the product portfolio and guest experience - has been carefully considered to create a complete and cohesive brand.
Direction and Development
In collaboration with TEAL, a comprehensive strategy has been developed covering operations, marketing, positioning, and guest experiences. This includes a concept manual, visual identity, product development, pricing models, and year-round experiences at Apal Stova. Support has been secured from Innovation Norway for investments and new hires, and the company has made targeted efforts to enter the restaurant market. The result: a professionalized business with a clear premium positioning - and ambitions to compete on the international stage.
